What Kirei Is

Kirei is an email client that connects to your Gmail account with Google OAuth so you can read, organize, search, snooze, reply to, send, and manage email from Kirei. Kirei is not an advertising product, analytics broker, or data resale service.

Your email can include conversations, travel plans, purchases, financial notices, calendar invitations, and personal details. Kirei treats that data as private user content.

Data Accessed

Kirei uses Google’s official OAuth system. Kirei never sees or stores your Google password. You grant specific permissions, and you can revoke them at any time in your Google account settings.

Depending on the features you use, Kirei accesses, collects, or interacts with the following Google user data:

  • Google profile data — your Google account ID, name, email address, and profile picture, accessed through Google Sign-In and userinfo scopes.
  • Gmail message data — message headers, sender/recipient data, subject lines, bodies, snippets, attachments metadata, thread metadata, message IDs, history IDs, and Gmail settings needed to show your inbox and message detail views.
  • Gmail attachment data — attachment filenames, MIME types, sizes, and attachment contents when you open, download, forward, save, send, or schedule a message with attachments.
  • Gmail labels and state — labels such as inbox, starred, sent, trash, spam, drafts, unread/read state, and user labels so Kirei can support actions such as done/archive, pin, search, and bundle organization.
  • Draft and send data — recipients, subject lines, message bodies, thread IDs, reply metadata, and attachments for drafts, replies, forwards, scheduled sends, and sent messages that you create in Kirei.
  • Calendar event data — calendar invitation details and attendee response status so Kirei can show event cards and let you RSVP to invitations from the app.

Data Usage

Kirei uses, processes, and handles Google user data only to provide visible, user-facing email features that you choose to use:

  • Display Gmail inboxes, threads, messages, labels, and search results.
  • Organize messages into bundles and preserve multi-account context.
  • Download or display attachments when you open or forward them.
  • Archive, pin, mark read or unread, label, trash, restore, snooze, and otherwise manage threads when you take an action.
  • Compose, save, schedule, reply, forward, and send emails you explicitly choose to create or send.
  • Extract useful highlights such as flights, packages, reservations, and calendar invitations.
  • Generate optional smart replies, summaries, categorization, and snooze suggestions.

Kirei does not use Google user data for advertising, retargeting, building advertising profiles, selling data, or training Kirei-owned AI models. Kirei also does not use Google Workspace API data to train generalized AI or machine learning models.

What Kirei Stores

Gmail remains the source of truth for email. Kirei stores OAuth tokens and app-specific state needed to operate the product, including linked account records, snooze schedules, reminders, bundle preferences, user settings, cached message highlights, push notification state, and local/offline cache data on your device.

Kirei stores only what is needed for the product features you use and to avoid repeatedly processing the same messages.

Data Sharing

Kirei does not sell Google user data and does not share Google user data with advertisers, data brokers, surveillance services, or unrelated third parties. Kirei shares Google user data only with service providers that are necessary to operate the app or features you request:

  • Cloud hosting and API infrastructure — to route authenticated requests and run the Kirei backend.
  • Database and storage providers — to store OAuth tokens, account records, preferences, snooze/reminder state, cached highlights, and sync metadata.
  • Push notification providers — to deliver snooze returns, digest alerts, and new-mail notifications when you enable notifications.
  • AI infrastructure providers — only when AI features run, relevant message content may be processed to perform the requested feature, such as categorization, highlights extraction, smart reply, summary, or smart snooze.

Kirei does not authorize service providers to use Google user data for advertising, resale, surveillance, or model training.

Google API Limited Use

Kirei’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Kirei requests only the Google permissions needed for the email and calendar features described in this policy. If Kirei changes how it accesses or uses Google user data, this policy will be updated and users will be asked to consent where required.

Data Storage And Protection

Kirei stores Google user data only when needed to provide the app, keep the mobile experience responsive, sync state across devices, or avoid repeatedly processing the same messages. Gmail remains the source of truth for email content.

Kirei protects user data with HTTPS in transit, managed cloud infrastructure, access controls, least-privilege operational access, and secure token storage. OAuth tokens are treated as sensitive credentials. Local app sessions are stored using platform secure storage where available, and the mobile app keeps a local cache on your device for offline and faster access.

Data Retention And Deletion

Kirei retains OAuth tokens, account records, app settings, snooze entries, reminders, cached highlights, sync metadata, and push notification state while your Gmail account remains connected or while the data is needed to provide the feature you used. The mobile app keeps a local/offline cache on your device, including recent email data for a sliding window of app usage.

You can disconnect your Gmail account from Kirei at any time in the app. You can also revoke Kirei’s Google access in your Google account security settings. When you disconnect an account or request deletion, Kirei deletes stored OAuth tokens and app-stored data associated with that account from active systems, including cached highlights, snooze entries, reminders, and settings, unless limited retention is required for security, abuse prevention, debugging, legal compliance, or backup recovery.

To request deletion of Google user data stored by Kirei, disconnect the account in the app or email privacy@kirei.email. Revoking access in Google stops future access by Kirei, but it does not by itself delete app-specific data already stored by Kirei; use the app deletion flow or contact email for that deletion.
